Lauren MacKenzie is a graduate student in the Masters of Education, Counselling program at Acadia University.
Lauren comes to Counselling after years of experience with charities and airline customer service where her skills and education in communication and problem solving were put to use. She has led teams, managed small and large events, and supported individuals in reaching their goals.
She was drawn to counselling to connect with people on a deeper level and support them in their journey to wellness. Her studies emphasize an integrative and trauma-informed approach to counselling, weaving in strategies that respond to the clients needs. Lauren has begun to incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Affective Therapy (CAT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques into her practice to help clients develop skills to thrive in their lives. Lauren believes in whole-person care that incorporates the mind, body, and spirit in healing.
With a background in international development, Lauren loves to travel and experience other cultures and environments. She loves to hike, particularly long distances, having completed over 790km across Spain. She spends her free time with her young family and getting out in nature with her dog.
