Marissa Walter is a clinical psychology master’s student, in the final year of her program.
Marissa recently joined Landing Strong as a practicum student and brings several years of formal education and unique experiences with her. Marissa holds a bachelor of science degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Business Administration. Prior to her clinical training, she worked in various roles related to psychological research, entrepreneurship, mental health/resilience, and youth mentorship.
Her training has largely focused on Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and she is also expanding her training in a range of validated therapies including: Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (CBCT for PTSD), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
A former nationally-ranked sprinter, Marissa enjoys staying active and spending time in nature. She is motivated to help children, adolescents, and adults reach their goals and realize their potential. She is inspired by the resilience of the human spirit and is passionate about providing culturally-competent care.
