Sonia Smith (Cand. Reg. C#10892) achieved her M.Ed. in School and Counselling Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan in 2021. She has since completed post-graduate training in forensic assessment and interventions and is registered with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners of Psychology in the areas of Counselling Psychology and Correctional/Forensic Psychology. Sonia’s treatment services draw upon cognitive, behavioural, and humanistic methods. She adheres to a biopsychosocial approach to wellness and recognizes the interconnectedness of physical well-being and social systems with mental health. She has experience working with youth (14+), adults, correctional populations, and animal-care/ veterinary providers. Sonia also offers psychological assessments and is specialized in forensic risk assessment.
Outside of the office, Sonia enjoys horseback riding, running, harness dog sports, and yoga.
