Colleen is a Master of Counselling student at Acadia University and brings more than two decades of experience as a Nurse Practitioner to her counselling work. Her career in healthcare has given her the privilege of walking alongside people through some of life’s most difficult and vulnerable moments. She is now following a long-standing pull toward the relational and emotional aspects of healing—and helping people make sense of their experiences in new ways.

At the heart of her approach is a deep respect for people. She approaches counselling with curiosity, compassion, and a belief that people are never reducible to their difficulties. She sees clients as the experts in their own lives and believes they already carry within themselves all of the ingredients necessary for change.

Her approach is informed by attachment science, trauma-informed practice, and an understanding of how our bodies, relationships, histories, and environments shape how we experience ourselves and the world. Colleen draws from different ways of understanding human experience to meet each person where they are. She is particularly interested in the stories we carry about ourselves and what becomes possible when we begin to reconnect with parts of ourselves that may have been lost, silenced, or pushed aside.

Colleen sees counselling as a collaborative journey. She views her role as not to have all the answers but to offer a steady, compassionate presence and a safe, grounded space for curiosity, exploration, and change. She believes that healing is not about becoming someone different but about coming home to more of who we already are.

Colleen is honoured to be learning and growing as a counsellor and looks forward to being a partner in the beautiful and important work of reclaiming ourselves and healing suffering.
